Registration and Consent Form

If, as a parent or caregiver you are the child's legal guardian, you can sign the Registration and Consent Form. However, if your Department of Community Services Case Worker, such as in the case of a Foster child or a child in the care of the province, or someone else is the legal guardian, your child's Case Worker, OR that other person who is the legal guardian MUST sign the Registration and Consent Form.

Please read this Registration and Consent Form carefully as it is a legally binding document and it contains important information you and we need to know for sending your child or ward to camp.

A separate Registration and Consent Form must be completed and signed for each child or ward that you are sending to Camp.

 

Kejimkujik Park Location & Drop Off / Pick-Up Times:

The weekend Camp will be held at Kejimkujik National Park, which is on Route 8 about 1/2 hour outside Bridgewater. Drop Off / Pick-Up Times: Please plan to drop-off your child or ward at the Camp site between 5:00 and 5:30 PM on the Friday. Supper is planned for 6:00PM. Please plan to pick-up your child or ward by 12:00 Noon on the Sunday. Please call or text us at 902-220-0346 is you are going to be late in dropping off or picking up your child or ward.

Camp Site Location: Camp Challenge will be at Camp Site #3 in the Charles Point Group Camp Grounds. Kit List

If your child or ward needs to have a sleeping bag or sleeping pad or flash light supplied for the weekend, please indicate this on the Registration Form.

Canoes, Personal Flotation Devices, paddles, tents and all other camping, cooking and training and safety equipment will be supplied by Adventure Camp and Camp Challenge.

The following is the Kit List of the clothes and personal items that your child needs to bring to camp:

Please mark each item clearly with your child's name using a waterproof marker.

1. The Medications that your child or ward may require for the week while they are at camp.

2. Personal Clothes and Personal Hygiene Items:

  • Warm/long-sleeved shirt (1)
  • Pants (jeans or similar) (1)
  • Shorts (1)
  • T-shirts (1or 2)
  • Socks (2)
  • Underwear (2)
  • Heavy sweater (1)
  • Comfortable sneakers or lite hiking boots
  • Hat or cap for sun (preferably a wide brimmed "bush" style hat)
  • Warm toque or hat if weather is cold and for nights
  • Warm scarf for nights
  • Warm jacket for nights
  • Light jacket - for day and for canoeing
  • Warm gloves (2 pairs in case one get wet while canoeing)
  • Extra warm pajamas
  • Warm socks for sleeping (nothing worse than cold feet at night)
  • Swim suit (one piece for girls) - if the weather is going to be very warm
  • Sandals with straps (preferably no flip flops) for relaxing in your tent or cabin
  • Rain-coat / rain-pants or a poncho
  • Rubber boots
  • Large shower towel
  • Hand towel
  • Hand soap (in container)
  • Shampoo
  • Wash cloth
  • Toothbrush and paste
  • Brush / comb

3. Sleeping & Night Time Needs:

  • Pillow
  • Sleeping bag
  • Sleeping air mattress or sleeping pad
  • Flash light

If you do not have a sleeping bag, or sleeping air mattress / pad or a flash light please do not worry - we can supply them for your child's use during their camp session. All you have to do is indicate on the Registration Form that you will need these items supplied.

4. Other Necessities:

  • School backpack (for day & night hikes)
  • Personal water bottle / container
  • Sunscreen lotion (not aerosol)
  • Sunglasses
  • Pump / lotion Bug Repellent (not aerosol)
  • Notebook and pencil
  • Night time reading book (if your child or ward would like)

5. Other Permited Personal Items:

  • cell phones,
  • iPods / mp3 players

If your child or ward decides to bring their cell phone and/or iPod or MP3 player, please ensure these are placed in a zip-lock bag to keep them dry in case in rains and while thery are canoeing. While cell phones and iPods/MP3 players will be permited at this Camp, their use by campers will be managed by Camp Staff. When Camp Staff tell campers they are to turn off and put away their cell phones and iPods/MP3 players, campers must comply with these directions.

Please note that while we will do our best to try to make sure your child or ward brings back all their clothes and their personal items our Camp staff and workers are NOT responsible for any of your child's or ward's personal effects.

The following items should NOT be taken to Camp by your child or ward:

  • hand held electronic games
  • laptops or iPads/tablets
  • perfumes
  • cosmetic lipstick or gloss - however a lip balm or moisturizer with sunscreen is recommended
  • jewelry
  • knives or weapons of any kind
  • firecrackers or flammable materials or liquids or lighters or matches
  • aerosol containers of any kind - in the case of bug and mosquito repellent, please send a liquid or cream

If these items are brought to Camp they will be taken away by our Camp staff. While we will endeavour to safely keep them and return them to you and/or your child at the end of camp, we are not responsible for their loss or damage.

There is no need for your child or ward to bring money, which may be lost or stolen, as all their food and snacks are provided and there is no store or canteen on the camp properties.

To help make our Camp a safe and fun place for all the children, cigarettes, tobacco, chewing tobacco, drugs, alcohol and knives are strictly forbidden at Camp. If we find drugs, illegal substances, alcohol, knives or a weapon of any kind with your child or ward, the RCMP may be called in to help assure the safety of all campers and staff and to investigate and take possession of these items AND your child or ward will be promptly sent home for the safety of themselves and all the other campers.

Transportation To and From Camp

Parents and Guardians are responsible to make their own driving arrangements to take their children and/or teens to camp and to pick them up on the last day of camp. If your child decides they want to go home before their camp session ends or they become ill, you or your Caregiver or your Emergency Contact will be called and you or they will be responsible to come or to make arrangements to have your child picked up and returned home.
